All participants are encouraged to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Tour guides and drivers will do the same.
All participants also must purchase travel insurance, including Medical and Evacuation Coverage and Covid-19 Coverage.
Insure My Trip is a travel insurance marketplace website that allows you to compare trip insurance plans to find the right plan for you. Cancellation coverage is recommended as well in case you have an emergency and are unable to attend. Cancellation coverage often needs to be purchased within a shorter timeframe of registering for the trip.
What is included in this trip?
All lodging, meals, domestic flights, ground transportation, park entry fees, and guides. Based on double occupancy at lodgings, with a group size of 6 to 12 registrants. Maximum group size is 12 registrants, plus guide(s) and driver(s). If there are fewer than 6 registrants, this tour may be cancelled or re-negotiated. Note that if you want a roommate I can try to find you one, but cannot guarantee all guests a roommate unless they register with a friend/partner. If none is available, you will be charged the single supplement.
What is not included in this trip?
Your airfare to and from Trinidad, personal purchases, and gratuities (suggested gratuity is $10-20 per day per person for guides, $10+ per day per person for driver, and whatever you’d normally leave in hotel rooms; restaurant gratuities will be covered by guide). Certain meals depending on arrival or departure time (prior to dinner on the first day or after lunch on the last day).
What is the Cancellation/Refund Policy?
Cancellation is possible until 90 days prior to the trip, and later if the spot can be filled from a waiting list. Stripe credit card processing fees (7%) are non-refundable.
25% of total amount non-refundable for all cancellations including those made 90 days prior to arrival date, due to domestic airfare. If the spot can be filled, a 100% refund will be possible (minus processing fees).
No refund for cancellations made 30 days or less prior to arrival date.
Do I need any vaccinations?
None are required however certain countries will not allow you to enter after visiting Brazil unless you’ve had a Yellow Fever vaccine. You won’t need malaria meds etc. Consult your doctor if you have further concerns or questions.
What will the climate be like?
The climate in T&T will be pleasant and warm, ranging from mildly hot in the daytime (although not any worse than NYC in summer!) to cooler at night - low to high 80s in the daytime, and low 70s at night. The ocean is warm and inviting at about 79°F to 80°F (26°C to 27°C). This will be the dry season, with little chance of rain outside of some afternoon showers, and consistent, refreshing northeast trade winds.
What altitudes will we visit?
This tour will be at lower altitudes & climates, from sea level to about 2,000 feet.
What will the terrain be like?
Terrain will mostly be easy, walking along roadsides and groomed trails. Some will be steep, when visiting hilly areas. It could be muddy in a few places along the edge of wetlands. Bring sturdy walking shoes with good ankle support, like hiking boots or trail sneakers.
