Day 1, March 6:
Arrival in Trinidad at the Piarco International Airport. Pick-up and transfer to the legendary Asa Wright Nature Centre & Lodge (estimated 45-minute drive).
Enjoy a rum punch on the sweeping veranda while taking in views of the valley below and the many hummingbird species visiting the flower gardens.
Buffet dinner will be served for clients arriving before 7PM. Rooms will be assigned and you’ll be able to settle into the modern cabins sprinkled within the Rainforest; you’ll be immersed in the sounds and sights of the tropical environment.
Instead of going to bed, feel free to wander the paths to explore for nocturnal and sleeping wildlife.

Day 2, March 7:
We will spend the day exploring the beautiful grounds & trails of the Asa Wright Nature Center. Buffet breakfast, lunch & dinner will be served at property.
Sunrise at approximately 6:15AM, where your first morning experience will be off the famous veranda overlooking the verdant Arima Valley with bird feeders scattered below. 285 species of birds have been recorded here, with dozens of species easily possible from the deck, including hummingbirds, tanagers, thrushes, honeycreepers, parrots to start your adventure.
After breakfast, a guided Orientation Tour will be conducted along the main ‘Discovery Trail’ to witness some of the featured wildlife attractions. Bird-watching opportunities throughout the day from the ‘Main House’ and along any of the 10+ miles of nature trails are available. Swimming is also optional onsite at any of the two natural waterfalls and pools. Featured birds to be seen that day include the iconic Bearded Bellbird, White-bearded Manakin, Golden-headed Manakin, Tufted Coquette (Hummingbird), Channel-billed Toucan and many other forest passerine birds and wildlife.

Day 3, March 8:
Buffet breakfast & dinner served at Asa Wright/ packed lunch included on trip. Pickup for Birding/ Nature Tour to the northern range along the Blanchisseuse Road and Rainforest.
Return in the afternoon (estimated 10-hour trip). A 6:30AM start (after breakfast) for the dive along the northern main road for high-elevation roadside birding. Selected stops along the way will reveal breathtaking views of the scenic Northern range and Caribbean sea. You visit the rural villages of Brasso Seco and Morne La Cruix, and into old Cocoa estates. Featured birds to be sought that day include the Ornate Hawk-Eagle, Chestnut Woodpecker, Blue-headed Parrot, Yellow-rumped Cacique, Speckled Tanager, Collared Trogon and other high elevation forest birds and wildlife.

Day 4, March 9:
Early pickup for Birding/ Nature Tour to the Bajnath’s Estate and eastern/ Atlantic coastline to the Nariva Swamp including select stops at Aripo Savannah and Manzanilla Beach (estimated 10-hour trip). Packed breakfast and lunch included on trip.
We begin at the popular Bajnath Estate to look for one of the two endemic birds found only in Trinidad: the critically endangered Trinidad Piping Guan, as well as a dozen species of hummingbirds.
We’ll continue along the coast past fishing & farming communities through to the edge of the country’s largest freshwater swamp. A picnic lunch at Manzanilla Beach will be served. Featured birds include the Trinidad Piping Guan, Pinnated Bittern, Blue & Gold Macaw, Hook-billed Kite, Savannah Hawk, Silvered Antbird, Crested Caracara, and other birds & wildlife.

Day 5, March 10:
Buffet breakfast, lunch & dinner served at accommodation.
Today will feature a Guided walk to the Oilbird Colony located onsite. We will have a comfortable start after breakfast to start a walking tour to visit the most accessible colony of Oilbirds in the World at ‘Dunston’s Cave’.
Following lunch, we will have an afternoon pick-up and drive to the western coastline of the Gulf of Paria into the Country’s larger brackish-water swamp; for a flat-bottom boat tour into the Caroni Swamp. Your target to see Trinidad’s National bird the Scarlet Ibis returning to roost at sunset (estimated 5-hour trip). In one of the most spectacular natural phenomena on the planet, tens of thousands of Scarlet Ibis fly in from their feeding grounds to roost in the mangroves at Caroni Swamp. A once-in-a-lifetime experience!
After our boat adventure, we will return to Asa Wright for dinner.
Featured birds could include Oilbird, Black-faced Antthrush, Scarlet Ibis, Boat-billed Heron, American Pygmy Kingfisher, American Flamingo, Tropical Screech-Owl, Common Potoo, Trinidad Motmot, Masked Cardinal and other forest & wetland species.

Day 6, March 11:
After breakfast and checkout from Asa Wright, Airport transfer and Domestic flight for short 20-minute trip to Tobago Island.
Upon arrival to Tobago and pickup at Crown Point International Airport we head to a nearby local restaurant for lunch. This will be followed by a Birding/ Nature Tour of the Wetland Sites including Bon Accord and Canaan Sewage Ponds (one of the best sewage treatment plants!). We’ll wander along the edge of sewage ponds and mangroves for the many foraging species. Transfer to Cuffie River Nature Retreat. Swimming and birding opportunities are available at the Hotel. Featured birds to be seen this day include White-cheeked Pintail, Black-bellied Whistling Duck, Least Grebe, Anhinga, Black-crowned Night-Heron, Purple Gallinule, Mangrove Cuckoo and other wading birds & wildlife.

DAY 7, March 12:
We will have a casual start to the day with the options to explore & birding on the property and/ or sleep in or spend time by the pool. After breakfast we’ll be ready for a mid-morning pick-up for transfer to the beachside Blue Waters Inn. En route along the picturesque Caribbean Coast to the Village of Speyside we’ll have lunch at the famous Jemma’s Tree House Restaurant. After lunch we’ll drive a few minutes to the Hotel for Check-in. The rest of the day is free to relax at the beach or pool, go snorkeling or birding on the surrounding trails.

DAY 8, March 13:
Early pickup for Birding/ Nature Tour of the Main Ridge Rainforest Reserve including visit to Shurland’s Hummingbird Gallery & Nature Park. Pre-breakfast start to the tour (we will pack breakfast), leading into the oldest legally-protected Rainforest in the Western Hemisphere. Selected stops along the ‘Bloody-Bay Main’ road and through the pristine mountain reserve. An added visit to the popular Hummingbird Gallery will be included. After lunch back at the Blue Waters Inn, we will board a Glass-bottom boat for a tour to Little Tobago Island Bird Sanctuary. Your boat trip takes you over the “Angel Reef” to see tropical coral and marine life before docking to explore the island’s dry forest and cliffs, where you’ll be standing within feet of some of the island’s spectacular nesting pelagic birds. Featured birds to be seen that day include Great Black-Hawk, Blue-backed Manakin, White-tailed Sabrewing, Trinidad Motmot, Red-billed Tropicbird, Red-footed Booby, Brown Booby, and other forest and seabirds & wildlife.

DAY 9, March 14:
Optional bird walk followed by breakfast at the Blue Waters Inn. Pickup for domestic Airport Transfer to airport to fly back to Trinidad for departure, or stay longer at Blue Waters Inn [not included] if you’d like another day or two by the beach!.
