All participants are encouraged to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Tour guides and drivers will do the same.
All participants also must purchase travel insurance, including Medical and Evacuation Coverage and Covid-19 Coverage.

What is included in this trip?
All lodging, meals, ground transportation, park entry fees, and guides (Based on double occupancy at lodgings, with a group size of 6 to 10 registrants. Maximum group size is 10 registrants, plus guide(s) and driver(s). If there are fewer than 6 registrants, this tour may be cancelled or re-negotiated. Note that if you want a roommate I can try to find you one, but cannot guarantee all guests a roommate unless they register with a friend/partner. If none is available, you will be charged the single supplement.
What is not included in this trip?
Your airfare to and from Brazil, personal purchases, and gratuities (suggested gratuity is $10-20 per day per person for guides, $10+ per day per person for driver, and whatever you’d normally leave in hotel rooms; restaurant gratuities will be covered by guide). Certain meals depending on arrival or departure time (prior to dinner on the first day or after lunch on the last day).
What is the Cancellation/Refund Policy?
Cancellation is possible until 90 days prior to the trip, and later if the spot can be filled from a waiting list. Stripe credit card processing fees (7%) are non-refundable.
Do I need any vaccinations?
None are required however certain countries will not allow you to enter after visiting Brazil unless you’ve had a Yellow Fever vaccine. You won’t need malaria meds etc. Consult your doctor if you have further concerns or questions.
What will the climate be like?
The climate in Rio will be very pleasant, ranging from mildly hot in the daytime (although not any worse than NYC in summer!) to cooler at night - mid 70s to low 80s in the daytime, and low to high 60s at night. In the mountains around Nova Friburgo, it will be cooler - mid 70s in the daytime to high 40s at night. Bring a light jacket, fleece or sweater, and a raincoat (although it will be the dry season, it could still rain).
What altitudes will we visit?
This tour will be at lower altitudes & climates into cloud forest, from sea level to about 7,200 feet (most people begin to feel the altitude around 8,000 feet).
What will the terrain be like?
Terrain will mostly be easy, walking along roadsides and groomed trails. Some will be steep, when visiting the mountains. It could be muddy in a few places along the edge of wetlands. Bring sturdy walking shoes with good ankle support, like hiking boots or trail sneakers.
